The game is currently priced at $9.99 with a 20% launch discount, increased to 40% for anyone who has already purchased System Shock 2 through GOG. Gameplay tweaks include a toggleable mouselook mode, improved inventory and item management, remappable controls, and numerous bug-fixes. The latter, a sub-100MB patch to the original game, brings support for 'high' resolution play up to 1,024x768 and a native 854x480 widescreen mode for modern monitors. Now, though, the company has been able to launch the original game, and it's doing so in two flavours: the original Enhanced Version with voiceovers, known to GOG as System Shock Classic, and a revised version dubbed System Shock Enhanced Edition. While successful, the deal affected only the sequel with the - in many ways more-loved - original still only accessible via second-hand markets and inappropriately-named 'abandonware' sites. GOG had a hand in the re-release of System Shock 2 back in February 2013 following one gamer's crusade to rescue the rights to the franchise. Fresh from bringing System Shock 2 to gamers of a new generation, Good Old Games (GOG) has announced the re-release of the original ground-breaking sci-fi epic System Shock in a new Enhanced Edition.
